Camp Fire

3 Days after the start of the Camp Fire, the Bicycle Community as well as everyone in our area and beyond were in shock.  The level of destruction and devastation was unimaginable and more was still yet to come.  Quickly, the bicycle community banded together to formulate a plan on how to best help those affected in our area.  We held a meeting with 8 bicycle shops, 1 non-profit, and 2 cycling teams present for the first time, all coming together in a united effort to help our community.

Our meeting goals:
  • Raise $50,000 to:
    • Help as many kids as possible get back on bicycles  who are affected by the Camp Fire
    • Help as many adults as possible who are affected by the Camp Fire get out and ride again
  • Establish a fund for those affected by the Camp Fire
  • Set-up a Donation request both physical and financial to give our community and beyond direction and unity
  • Late Spring / Early Summer Fundraiser for those affected by the Fires
  • Make sure that the local businesses can survive as well in the coming years
We have many plans on how to help our community, some long term, some short term, but we are here to help and we want to make sure we can get people back on bikes.
Discounts
Those affected by the Camp Fire can go to any of these participating Bicycle shops and receive 10% off their purchase.  While there, sign up for the Butte Strong Bicycle Aid to receive financial assistance with acquiring a new bicycle.

Currently, we are seeking kids bicycles to assist the Butte County Sheriff's Office with their yearly bike giveaway.  new this year the Sheriff's office will be opening up the bike giveaway to kid's affected by the Camp Fire.  We are helping to gather and repair as any bicycles as possible to give away.  If you would like to donate a kids bicycle in new or good condition please take it to any of the participating bicycle shops.  The shop will hold the bicycle until we hold our community bike building.

Additional Items to Donate:

Financial Donations
We firmly believe in the healing power that a bicycle can give.  That is why we formed the Butte Strong Bicycle Aid in partnership with the local bicycle shops in Chico, CA.  We want to help those affected by the fires get back out riding whether they are a kid, commuter, racer, Sunday rider, etc.  Any financial contributions will be placed in the Butte Strong Bicycle Aid.  You can Learn more about the Butte Strong Bicycle Aid Here.
