WORDS OF WARNING!The roads on this ride span a wide range from new pavement to almost unimaginably poor quality. While most use road bikes, consider all options including touring bikes, cross and lighter-weight mountain bikes. If you choose to use your road bike, you'll want to consider heavy-duty and larger than usual tires. If you choose a cross or mountain bike, you'll love the descents.
The climbs on this ride are notoriously challenging and there will be very limited SAG support. The Wall is purported to be an average of 18% for 1.25 miles. To participate in this ride, you should be an experienced, self-sufficient bicyclist in good physical condition with some significant hill-climbing training under your belt. A triple, compact or mountain bike gearing is strongly recommended. Mechanic service is not available on this ride so PLEASE make sure your bike is in good working order.
