Building a Better Cycling Community Together

Every year Chico Velo works very hard to advocate and educate our community and beyond about the benefits and joys of bicycling and non motorized means of transportation.  Through our programs with the generous help of our sponsors, members, volunteers, and community we are able to lead a number of events, organized rides, bicycle rodeos, trail work days, and cycling education opportunities.

Community Action and having a our voice heard is a key component to Chico Velo's success in advocate for bicyclists of all types and abilities.  Chico Velo is actively involved with the Chico Bike Advisory Committee, BCAG Transportation Advisory Committee, Butte Environmental Council, and the California Bicycle Coalition. We work together with these groups and others to develop and implement programs that aim to educate our community about bicycling and support local cyclists of all levels and interests.  To further advocate for bicyclists and non-motorized users we work closely with the City of Chico and Butte County in order to ensure cycling and non-motorized forms of transportation are included in all infrastructure plans where applicable.

On the national level, we're a proud partner Affiliate of the Safe Routes to School National Partnership, as well as a member of the League of American Bicyclists, the Alliance for Biking and Walking, and the International Mountain Bicycling Association.  Through our dedication and the support of our community we were able to upgrade the City of Chico to Silver Status with the League of American Bicyclists' Bike Friendly America program in 2012!
