Project Info, Updates & Timeline

No Motorized Vehicles

Current Status:
 December 2025
In Progress:
 Lookout Trail (finish date TBD).

Open trails are marked,
please respect "CLOSED" trail signs as there is ongoing construction and maintenance.

November 2025: Two trails are opened, Humboldt Drop and Escape Trail!

Fully Completed: Humboldt Drop, a one-way downhill trail for advanced or experienced MTB riders. Every feature is optional, with jumps, berms, and drops! Unavoidable features are signed DROP.
Escape Trail is a multi-use trail that is built to include
adaptive MTBs. This trail is both directions.

Thanks to Butte County Search and Rescue, there are Rescue Points signed on Escape and Humboldt Drop. Look for signs with the BCSAR logo and # for reference in case of severe injury or rescue!

Use Trailforks to see trail routes, submit ride reports, or donate to Trailworks using Trail Karma.

How to access:
Humboldt Drop: Drive to Humboldt Summit via Humboldt Summit Road, access trailhead toward the West of the open space.

Escape: While multi-directional, the current and easiest way to access the trail by car is from the Colby Mountain Lookout. Drive to the Lookout using N Philbrook road (gravel)/ FR 27N06 to get on Colby Mountain Lookout Road. At the Lookout, north of the bathroom is a double track. This double track leads you to Escape Trail, which turns West from the ridge.

All open trail portions of the trail are signed.

Coming soon:
  • Trailheads (Humboldt Summit and The Hub)
  • Home Trail, Willow Trail, and Yana Rim Trail

There's lots more trail to build!
