A Fondo is a cross between a Century ride and a bike race. While it is a mass-start, timed event, no bike racing license is required to participate, and it is not sanctioned by any bike racing authority. You can ‘race’ against the clock, or against a friend, at whatever intensity suits you. The Challenge Fondo 100 and Medio 65 mile routes offer riders mass-start, timed events,travelling a tough hilly course on mostly lightly-travelled back-roads, with just a few city intersections. Check-ins will be monitored at each rest stop, and you’ll be motivated by the thought of crossing the finish line!  The Piccolo 40 is a shorter, flat ride through the orchards and farms south and west of Chico. It offers a relaxed starting time 'window, and it is not a timed event.
