National Bike ChallengeThe National Bike Challenge is back and improved for 2017, and Chico Velo is proud to host the Butte and Glenn County Local Challenges! Running from May 1 through September 30, the National Bike Challenge offers a fun way to track your miles and compete with friends and family. Every mile you ride rolls up to help Chico compete against other cities and Local Challenges, and supports California in the state competition! You can also set up your own Challenges within your workplace, school or club.
The new National Bike Challenge is fully integrated with Strava so you can easily log your miles via download or manual entry. You get ‘points’ in the Challenge based on number of miles and number of days you ride. The more you ride, the more points you get! So get right over to www.nationalbikechallenge.org and sign up today! |

Bike to School WeekNational Bike to School Week is May 8-12 this year, and many Chico schools will be participating and encouraging kids to get out and ride! Participating schools will be set up to support and encourage biking and even walking to schools. Each day this week, all kids at participating schools that walk or bike will get a raffle ticket for daily prizes and a ‘grand prize’ drawing for $250 gift certificates to local bike shops. At each participating school, kids who walk or bike will check-in at the "Bike to School" table to enter the raffle. Free bike maps, fun stickers and other goodies will also be available there each day. Want to see if your school is participating, get involved or even sponsor a school’s gift certificate?? Email velo@chicovelo.org.
See the wonderful thank-you letters from the kids. |
